Reinforcing Economic Skills for Empowered Citizenship and Transition in Greece
CIF 2026 – Call for Financial and Economic Literacy
With great joy and a deep sense of responsibility, the Hellenic Longevity Center announces the launch of the project RESET GR (Reinforcing Economic Skills for Empowered Citizenship and Transition in Greece).
The project is funded by the Civic Innovation Fund (CIF) 2026 pool, an initiative supported by the ERSTE Foundation. It focuses on strengthening economic literacy as an essential complement to citizenship education.

The Vision: Economy as a Tool for Democracy
In aging societies, such as the Greek one, financial insecurity often leads to social exclusion. RESET GR does not treat low financial literacy merely as a lack of economic knowledge, but as an obstacle to citizens’ active participation in public affairs. As The Civics Innovation Hub very vividly describes the project in its recent announcement:
The project “seeks to transform financial knowledge from a ‘technical skill’ into a civic competency, filling a critical gap in Greek civic education.”
Strategic Pillars and Innovation
RESET GR stands out for its holistic and innovative approach:
- Intergenerational Mentorship: Through a pioneering model, experienced citizens collaborate with the younger generation, bridging the gap of knowledge and experience.
- Gamification: Utilizing the game “2121” as a tool for understanding complex economic concepts.
- International Networking: Exchange of good practices with Denmark (a model country in financial literacy) and Bulgaria, with which we share common challenges in the “transitional” economies of SE Europe.
Implementation and Expected Results
During its 8-month pilot phase, the project aims to directly benefit civic education teachers and adult educators, and indirectly, individuals/students of all ages. The core axis is the creation of an Educational Guide (Module), which will include:
- Theory: Connecting personal finance with public policies (e.g., how inflation affects our vote).
- Exercises: Practical tools, such as reading the state budget.
- Train-the-trainer Education: Equipping educators with tools that can be implemented in schools or online adult seminars.
Looking to the Future
The project will culminate with the National Multiplier Event in Athens, where the results will be presented, along with policy recommendations for a unified European roadmap for financial-civic literacy. Our goal is to standardize this methodology so that it becomes available on an open-access digital platform for all citizens.
We thank The Civics Innovation Hub for their wishes and support: “We wish the project team the best for the implementation!”.
